Alure Home Improvements is proud to announce our partnership with GreenStreet LI. Programs like GreenStreet LI play a vital role in educating Long Islanders on how to live healthier and safer lives, while learning how to help preserve our environment. At Alure we look forward to helping create awareness, and providing education as well as products and services that will assist our local communities to become active GreenStreet LI families. We are excited to play a vital role in helping Long Island families and homeowners improve their lives with greater energy efficiency and more comfortable homes, while contributing to the preservation of Long Island’s precious and unique environment.
WHAT IS A HOME ENERGY AUDIT?
“Getting a home energy audit is like going to the doctor for a physical,” says Sal Ferro, President/CEO of Alure Home Improvements. “We assess the performance of your house, and then recommend – and can also implement – improvements that will not only save you money on your energy bill, but also will help you take care of our environment by reducing your carbon footprint.” There are many ways to go green that don't require a significant investment.
OUR STORY
Alure has been a strong supporter of the Long Island community for years, with sponsorships, sports teams and support of charitable organizations such as The Interfaith Nutrition Network, Find a Cure Today and The Salvation Army. We believe in community. Our seven-time participation with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has further grown our belief that one person can make a difference.
For everyone at Alure, getting involved in the Green Movement was an easy decision. Being in the remodeling business for over 60 years, and helping homeowners learn to be “green” has provided Alure with additional resources that can offer tremendous benefits to homeowners. In 2007, Alure created our Home Performance department - through this department we offer Home Energy Assessments to Long Island homeowners.
As we are Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified accredited, we are able to provide many solutions for homeowners looking to improve the comfort, safety and efficiency of their homes. Energy Star-rated replacement windows, select energy efficient roofing products, the UltraShield insulation we include with all our siding, the Owens Corning Basement Finishing System, attic insulation and air sealing are just a sample of the products we provide to homeowners. Many of the products we offer for kitchen and bath renovations are “green” as well. From countertops to low water usage faucets and fixtures, we are thinking “green”.
Many of our products qualify for the new 2009/2010 Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficient Home Improvements. We help homeowners facilitate the processing for all local and federal tax credits, rebates and incentives.
ALURE IS ALSO DOING OUR PART IN OUR FACILITES
We have switched our office supply company to one that focuses on green products. We use fluorescent lighting and encourage all employees to turn off lights whenever leaving their offices, as well as turning off computers each night. We use email as a primary means of communication and print only when necessary. We use "green" maintenance and sanitary products. We recycle paper and bottles and have insulated ceilings in our offices to help us better condition the air on the second floor. In addition, we are currently exploring a roof insulating system.
OUR CURRENT PARNTERSHIPS AND MEMBERSHIPS
Alure is already involved in many Green Initiative programs that not only help Long Islanders improve their homes. These various community and utility programs assist homeowners in saving money and reducing their energy bills.
We were a partner in Nassau County's Green Levittown program. We enjoy a Partnership with Home Performance with Energy Star, LIPA & The Conservation Services Group, which helps to facilitate home assessments and rebates for the Long Island Green Homes (LIGH) program in the Town of Babylon. We are a USGBC member (United States Green Building Council). We Support the Citizens Campaign for the Environment.
