WHY WE MOVED
Our large energy bills were bad for our pocketbook and bad for the planet.
HOW WE MOVED
Our home energy audit helped point out simple fixes around the house that would lower energy consumption and save money. The steps were simple:
  1. 1. Changed 41 recessed bulbs to energy-saving CFLs (compact fluorescent lightbulbs)
  2. 2. Added new insulation in attic
  3. 3. Caulked basement leaks
  4. 4. Plugged energy-hungry appliances (computers, TVs, etc.) into power strip that gets turned off nightly
FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“By making some very low-cost improvements, we’ve already saved hundreds of dollars a year on our energy bill,” says Cohen. “And with the large rebates being offered, we’re looking into making the move to solar or geothermal heating and cooling systems. It’s not only good for our budget, it’s great for the environment.”
